A small selection of reviews about the visit to our mill
November 2024.
Perfect activity. This was a great activity during our visit to Amsterdam. Highly recommended. You get personalized english tour and get to climb inside the windmill.
October 2024.
My partner wanted desperately to see a genuine Dutch windmill, but we couldn’t get on the tour that would have taken us across 9, through the region around Amsterdam.
Just as well! Because we had to look for a visit we could do under our own steam and Molen van Sloten was the nearest one, and close to Schiphol Airport, whence we’d be flying out, just a few hours later.
So we worked out the buses, set off form our hotel and arrived close to midday. What we found was not some chocolate box, polished tourist curiosity, as we’d feared, but a working windmill, set up to pump water from the local area, to control levels in the wider area.
Inside we found the loveliest, kindest and friendliest members of staff, as well as a guide wh proved superbly knowledgeable and informative.
We learned so much, so quickly and it all felt really clear and three-dimensional over time, giving us a very good idea of the context, as well as the windmill itself.
I hope to visit again with my grandchildren, that they too might marvel at the ingenuity of the Dutch people, their engineering acumen and the way that they have managed ro keep the Netherlands safe from the encroaching sea!
I cannot recommend it enough! Well worth a visit!
Super fun outing!
I went there with my family and it was super fun! We all get an explanation about the mill and I was allowed to stop the mill myself. I also saw the screw turning and we climbed into a wing.
Not expensive, not long-winded, traditional Dutch outing.
A real old Dutch mill. Beautiful. Many model mills present, which means that compared to other mills you get a more understandable story during the (also English) tour. The link with Rembrandt is also nice! Also fun and safe for a 4 year old child. And the nearby old village of Sloten is also beautiful. Also nice to walk through for another fifteen minutes afterwards.
Nice Sunday afternoon activity
Very nice for children and especially an educational piece of history. It was really great, thank you ladies! We definitely recommend this tour
Thank you for a wonderful experience this morning.
My husband and I were delighted to have found out about your Molen in the “I amsterdam” magazine. May we congratulate you on your website, which is more user-friendly and informative than any other we have found thus far, providing us with interesting articles and public transport options. The walk from the tram was beautiful.
Our guide was excellent. She has lots of practical knowledge and engaged well with our small group.
Thank you too for your brochure which gave us the opportunity to explore your village and the allotments
Thank you again from your Australian visitors.
A must do!
Unbelievable. You just expect to see the mill. Get a great tour with complete explanation. How does the mill work, what is its function, history etc.!
An absolute “must”
An absolute must to better understand the operation of a mill and the history of Amsterdam, the one hour tour is great!
Very educational and extremely friendly and knowledgeable guide.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who make this possible.
Go here! A super fun experience.
Very nice tour!! Cozy, friendly atmosphere. We learned a lot about the mill and were also allowed to go inside. Recommended for everyone!
