It controls the water level in the western part of Amsterdam. This area is situated more than 2 meters below sea level. The Sloten Windmill is a rebuilt mill, dating from 1847.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The whole year long the Mill can be visited daily (except Jan. 1st, April 27th and December 25 and 26).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The windmill is a non-profit organisation, run by volunteers. Knowledgeable guides will gladly \u00a0explain the working of the mill during a guided tour.
